Black, So What

Yes I am
I am Black
Black is the color of my skin.
So what?
Does that make me any different then who I am.

I am a business woman
I have power
I am a black woman I say Today.

Does that mean I am
nothing? I have nothing
I have my mind and
power to uphold me.
The courage and the skill to move me.

Yes I am
I am Black
Black is the color of my skin
Am I different then the woman
that I am?

I f I had a different
Background,
culture,
or color of skin
wouldn't I still be the woman I am

Yes I am
I am Black
Black is not just the color of my skin
But the color of my culture.

Angel in Heaven

Angel in Heaven
Who looks down on us
You leave us with broken hearts
and days filled with tears.
You leave behind
so many hearts
filled with your love
But you also leave us
with wonderful memories.
Memories we will treasure
Until the end.
You leave us with hope
that someday we will meet again.
You leave us for something better.
You leave us to join someone greater.
Angel in Heaven
Who smile down on us, we hope you leave
With a smile on your face
a heart filled with love.
Even though we miss you now
We will know that we will
See you again
And remember all the things
you gave to us
Your love
Your passion
Your courage
Your hope in us
Your belief in us
And your wonderful smiling face.
Thanks to you oh Angel in heaven
for you leave unto us a
dream that we will meet again.

Memory

The memory of love
The things that will give us
Strength
The love of a memory
The people that will help us
Grow
The lost of memory
The lost of the loved
The gift of remembrance
Must carry on.
For those who lose
Strength
For those who stop
Growing
And for those who want to
Live.

My Senses

I give you a kiss
to feel your lips.
I give you a hug
to feel your warmth.
I give you a tickle
to hear your laugh.
I give you my shoulder
to just smell your scent.
I give you a good meal
to hear your appreciation.
I give you my time
to see you every second.
I give you my hand
to be able to steal some of your strength.
I give you my heart
to see if you will give me
Yours.

I Don't Like You

*Monday
I don't like You
Your too fat.
Your way to skinny.
You need to go on a diet.

*Tuesday
I don't like You
Your too dark
Your too pale
You need to wear more makeup.

*Wednesday
I don't like You
Your hips are too big
Your eyes are too far apart
You need to wear bigger jeans.

*Thursday
I don't like You
Your feet are too big
Your head is too big
You need to wear smaller shoes.

*Friday
I don't like You
Your hair is too nappy
Your hair isn't long enough
You need to get a perm.

If I've told you before
I'll tell you again
I don't like you
I don't like you
I don't like you
I don't like you
I----Don't----Like----You!!!!!
Or
Do I not like me?

My Daughter Asked Me

Eyes
Nose
Ears
&
Mouth
Everyone has them

Arms
Hips
Thighs
&
Legs
Everyone has them

Feet
Toes
Hands
&
Fingers
Everyone has them

If Everyone has them
Should Everyone have equal "say"
Should Everyone have equal "rights"
Should everyone have equal "judgment"

I told my daughter
Yes

Then why do we fight
Why do we judge each other
Why do we argue among ourselves

I told my daughter
Because we are all different.

Black Woman

Hey you
Yeah you
Were you going?
with Your nose so high in the air
if it rained you would drown.

Hey you
Where you going?
Why are you so proud?

I'm proud
because of Who I AM.

And Who Are You?

A Black Woman In Power.
